PetroQuest Energy Drills First Bossier Shale Well In Texas

PetroQuest Energy (PQ) recently finished drilling the company’s first well into the Bossier Shale in Texas. The well was drilled in the Carthage Field in Panola County and is currently producing 6 million cubic feet per day of natural gas.

PetroQuest Energy said that the well is still flowing back but does not havd a high enough BTU to generate a “substantial pricing uplift.” PetroQuest Energy has 23,000 net acres under lease in the Carthage Field.

EXCO Resources Updates Bossier Shale Operations For Fourth Quarter Of 2010

EXCO Resources (XCO) issued an operational update on its properties in Louisiana and Texas that are prospective for the Bossier Shale. 

EXCO Resources drilled and tested two Bossier Shale wells in 2010 on its acreage in DeSoto Parish, Louisiana.  The wells had initial production rates of eleven and thirteen million cubic feet of natural gas per day.

EXCO Resources also drilled its first Bossier Shale well on its acreage in the Shelby Trough during the first quarter of 2010.  This well is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2011.

Petrohawk Energy Reports On Bossier Shale Activities

Petrohawk Energy (HK) issued an operational update on its properties in Louisiana and Texas, where it has 150,000 net acres that are prospective for the Bossier Shale.  The company drilled 16 wells (fifteen non-operated, one operated) into the Bossier Shale in 2010.

Operated Summary

The Whitney 19 #1H well in Sabine Parish, Louisiana, was completed in August 2010, and had a restricted production rate of eight million cubic feet of natural gas equivalents per day.

Non Operated Summary

Petrohawk Energy said that of the fifteen non-operated wells, 10 were drilled in Texas, and five in Louisiana.

Petrohawk Energy has no plans to commit significant capital into the Bossier Shale until 2012 at the earliest.  The company estimates that it has non-proved resource potential of 8.1 trillion cubic feet, assuming ninety acre spacing and an estimated ultimate recovery of 6.5 billion cubic feet per well.

Goodrich Petroleum Reports Bossier Shale Well Completion

Goodrich Petroleum (GDP) issued an operational update on its properties in Louisiana and Texas that are prospective for the Bossier Shale.  The company is active in the Joaquin Field, located in the Shelby Trough.

Goodrich Petroleum reported the completion of the R. Dean 2H Bossier Shale well, with a 24 hour production rate of 8.6 million cubic feet of natural gas equivalents per day on a .25 inch choke.  Goodrich Petroleum has an 82% working interest in this Bossier Shale well.

Petrohawk Energy Issues Third Quarter Of 2010 Bossier Shale Update

Petrohawk Energy (HK) issued an operations update on its oil and gas activities during the third quarter of 2010, and reported the completion of a well into the Bossier Shale.  The company reported that the Whitney Corp 19H #1 well was producing at an initial production rate of 7.6 million cubic feet per day on a restricted choke.

Petrohawk Energy said that the Whitney Corp 19H #1 well was comparable in quality to other wells on its acreage and the company plans to drill 25% of its wells in the field to the Bossier Shale.
