Ohio Releases First Official Utica Shale Results

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (DNR) released production results on nine wells drilled and completed into the Utica Shale/Point Pleasant formation. The well names, cumulative production results and other pertinent information are listed below.

Chesapeake Energy (CHK) is the operator on all the wells, and only five of the wells have been placed onto commercial production to date. The production figures are not necessarily representative of what actual production will be as some of the wells are still flowing back fracturing fluid and may have production restricted by the operator.

Carroll County Leads Ohio With Forty Nine Utica Shale Drilling Permits

Carroll County has received 49 well permits to drill into the Utica Shale from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, the most of any county in Ohio. Columbiana and Jefferson Counties are second and third with 18 and 17 permits, respectively.  The full list is below:
