Penn Virginia Reports Three Marcellus Shale Wells

Penn Virginia (PVA) reported the production rates of three wells recently completed into the Marcellus Shale on the company’s acreage in Pennsylvania.

Risser #A-1H – peak 24 hour production rate of 3.1 million cubic feet of natural gas per day, and a 72 hour test rate of 2.1 million cubic feet of natural gas per day.

Risser #A-2H - peak 24 hour production rate of 2.8 million cubic feet of natural gas per day, and a 72 hour test rate of 1.7 million cubic feet of natural gas per day.

Dunn #A-1H - peak 24 hour production rate of 4 million cubic feet of natural gas per day, and a 72 hour test rate of 2.7 million cubic feet of natural gas per day.

Penn Virginia said that these wells were located in Potter and Tioga counties and were the first horizontal wells drilled into the Marcellus Shale by the company.  The company has one well waiting on completion and plans to conduct vertical well testing on its acreage in the second half of 2011.

Penn Virginia Updates Marcellus Shale Operations

Penn Virginia (PVA) issued an update on its operations in Pennsylvania, where the company is conducting oil and gas exploration and development activities on properties prospective for the Marcellus Shale.

Penn Virginia has finished drilling the Risser #A‐1H well, the company’s first horizontal Marcellus Shale well.  The company is currently drilling a second well on its properties.

Penn Virginia has 56,000 net acres under lease in Potter and Tioga Counties in Pennsylvania that is prospective for the Marcellus Shale.  The company plans to drill as many as 13 net wells in 2011 on its acreage.

Penn Virginia Corporation - Marcellus Shale Update - Q3 2010

Penn Virginia Corporation (PVA) is active in developing the Marcellus Shale, where the company has accumulated 55,000 net acres.  The majority of this acreage is located in Potter and Tioga counties in Pennsylvania. 

Penn Virginia Corporation said that the company would move a rig here in the fourth quarter of 2010 and begin ramping up a horizontal drilling program.
