Carrizo Oil and Gas - Marcellus Shale Update - First Quarter 2010

Carrizo Oil and Gas (CRZO) released an operational update on its exploration and development activities, and updated its progress in various unconventional resource basins, including the Marcellus Shale.

Carrizo Oil and Gas has 108,000 net acres under lease in the Marcellus Shale. In West Virginia, the company has drilled several vertical test wells and is starting to fracture the wells.

The company has acreage in Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania, and is conducting seismic operations on the acreage and plans to initiate a horizontal development program starting in the Fall 2010. Carrizo Oil and Gas plans 5 vertical, and 6 horizontal wells by the end of 2010.

Carrizo Oil and Gas also has acreage in New York, but any development there is on hold until regulations on drilling are finalized.

CNX Gas To Spend $160 Million In Marcellus Shale In 2010

CNX Gas Corporation (CXG) has allocated a $400 million capital expenditure budget for 2010, including $160 million to develop its acreage in the Marcellus Shale. The company is currently operating one horizontal rig, and will start a second rig in the Marcellus Shale beginning in March 2010.

CNX Gas has 230,000 acres under net lease that are prospective for the Marcellus Shale. This position is located in West Virginia, Ohio, New York and Pennsylvania. The company has drilled eight wells on its properties through September 2009, with an average peak daily production rate of 4.1 million cubic feet equivalent per day of natural gas. CNX Gas uses an average estimated ultimate recovery (EUR) of 3.5 billion cubic feet per well.
