Southwestern Energy (SWN) issued an operations update for the second quarter of 2010 on its activities in the Marcellus Shale. The company has 151,000 net acres under lease that is prospective for the Marcellus Shale in Pennsylvania.
Southwestern Energy drilled the Greenzweig #1-H well in 2008, but did not put the well onto sales until July 2010. The Greenzweig #1-H well was drilled with a 2945 foot lateral and completed with a seven stage hydraulic fracturing operation. This Marcellus Shale well is producing 3.3 million cubic feet per day of natural gas.
Southwestern Energy has drilled four Marcellus Shale wells to date in 2010, and said that all four will be completed by September 2010. The company plans to drill a total of twenty wells into the Marcellus Shale in 2010.
