Comstock Resources (CRK) issued an operations update on its activities in the Haynesville Shale in Louisiana and Texas. The company has 78,000 net acres that are prospective for this play.
Comstock Resources has twenty-six wells in the Haynesville or Bossier Shale that have been drilled but are waiting on completion due to a shortage of hydraulic fracturing capacity in the area. The company has obtained enough services to complete fourteen of these wells before the end of 2010.
Comstock Resources is operating six rigs in the Haynesville Shale, and plans to drill another ten wells during the fourth quarter of 2010. This leaves twenty-two uncompleted wells at the beginning of 2011.
Comstock Resources said that the company would release one of its six Haynesville Shale rigs in November 2010 due to low natural gas prices. The company is also considering moving one of the rigs to another shale play in 2011.
