Forest Oil - Q1 2010 Haynesville Shale Update

Forest Oil Corporation (FST) issued an operational update on its activities in the Haynesville Shale in Texas and Louisiana. The company currently has 102,900 gross, or 72,300 net acres in the play.

Forest Oil Corporation said that 40,200 gross, or 27,900 net acres are located in Red River and Sabine Parishes in Louisiana and in Shelby County, Texas.

Forest Oil Corporation said that 62,700 gross, or 44,400 net acres are located in Harrison, Panola, and Rusk Counties in Texas.

The company currently has 2 wells being completed, and has plans to drill 13 wells during the balance of 2010.

Comstock Resources Reports Successful Upper Haynesville Shale Well

Comstock Resources (CRK) reported the completion results of a well in the Upper Haynesville Shale, or Bossier Shale.

The Sustainable Forest 3#1H well is located in the South Toledo Bend Field in Sabine Parish, Louisiana. The well was drilled to a depth of 12,360 feet and completed with a 4,160 foot lateral and a 16 stage hydraulic fracturing operation.

Comstock Resources said that the Sustainable Forest 3#1H well had an initial 24 hour production rate of 20 million cubic feet equivalent. This was the first well drilled by the company in Sabine Parish.

Comstock Resources has 17,561 net acres in Sabine Parish that are prospective for the Haynesville Shale. The company plans to drill 56 gross wells targeting the Haynesville Shale in 2010, including 15 targeting the Upper Haynesville or Bossier Shale.

Crimson Exploration Updates Haynesville Shale Operations

Crimson Exploration Inc. (CXPO) has 12,000 acres under net lease in San Augustine and Sabine County in Texas that are prospective for the Haynesville Shale. The company said that the Kardell #1H well, which had an initial production rate of 30.7 million cubic feet equivalent per day, produced nearly 1 billion cubic feet during its first 90 days.

Crimson Exploration plans on drilling five operated wells on its acreage in the Haynesville Shale in 2010.
