Louisiana - Haynesville Shale Update

The Louisiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) recently reported an update on Haynesville Shale activity in Louisiana.

The DNR said that as of July 5, 2012, there were 2,405 total Haynesville Shale wells in Louisiana, with 2,028 of these wells currently producing.  An additional 250 wells have been permitted and are waiting on completions or other services.

The DNR said that another 127 Haynesville Shale wells have been permitted, with drilling progressing on 31 wells and no drilling on 96 wells.

Haynesville Shale - Updated Development Stats

The Louisiana Department of Natural Resources has released the latest data on drilling activity in the Haynesville Shale. The department reported a cumulative total of 1,364 total Haynesville Shale wells through July 6, 2010, comprised as follows:

Producing wells - 540

Waiting on Completion - 414

Drilling in progress - 145

Permitted/ Not drilling – 265

EXCO Resources - Haynesville Shale - First Quarter 2010 Update

EXCO Resources (XCO) released a first quarter of 2010 operational update on its activities in the Haynesville Shale. During the first quarter of 2010, EXCO Resources drilled and completed 19 gross, or 6.4 net wells. The average initial production rate of the 19 wells completed was 21 million cubic feet per day.

EXCO Resources has 51 operated and 40 non-operated wells flowing to sales as of the end of the first quarter of 2010. The company is currently producing 380 million cubic feet per day gross, or 112 million cubic feet per day net from its acreage in the Haynesville Shale.

EXCO Resources plans to complete between 20 and 30 wells each quarter for the balance of 2010. The company operated 13 drilling rigs and spudded 22 operated, and 16 non-operated wells during the first quarter of 2010.
