Forest Oil (FST) announced the results of its second horizontal well in the Haynesville Shale. The well is located in Red River Parish, Louisiana, and is called the Driver 13-1H. Forest Oil has a 100% working interest in the well.
Forest Oil said that the well produced at an initial production rate of 20.3 MMcfe/d, but the company did not state if this was a 24 hour, seven or thirty day average rate.
The well was drilled with a 3500-foot horizontal lateral, with a ten stage hydraulic fracturing at a cost of approximately $9.0 million.
Forest Oil's first horizontal well was called the Moseley 14 – 1H, and was also located in Red River Parish. The well had an initial production rate of 14 MMcfe/d.
Forest Oil has 11,050 net acres under lease in the Haynesville Shale and plans on operating two rigs in this shale play in 2009. The company believes it has 110 possible drilling locations.
