Forest Oil Updates Haynesville Shale Operations For Third Quarter Of 2010

Forest Oil (FST) issued an operations update in conjunction with the company’s earnings report for the third quarter of 2010.  The company is developing the Haynesville Shale on its properties.

Forest Oil drilled and completed three wells into the Haynesville Shale during the third quarter of 2010.  The company is operating these wells on a restricted choke as the company believes that this will leas to better long term well performance, and higher estimated ultimate recoveries.

Forest Oil has moved all of its operate rigs out of the Haynesville Shale due to weak natural gas prices.  The company has converted all its acreage in Red River Parish, Louisiana to held by production status.

Comstock Resources Updates Haynesville Shale Operations

Comstock Resources (CRK) issued an operations update on its oil and gas activities in various domestic basins, and provided information on its Haynesville Shale properties. 

Comstock Resources reported production of 84.7 million cubic feet of natural gas equivalent per day from its Haynesville Shale properties during the third quarter of 2010.  The company reported production of 57.8 million cubic feet of natural gas equivalent per day during the third quarter of 2009.

Comstock Resources said that production from the Haynesville Shale declined on a sequential basis from the second quarter of 2010 due to “unavailability of high pressure pumping services.”  The company had 26 Haynesville Shale wells waiting on completion as of 9/30/2010.

EXCO Resources Updates Haynesville Shale Activities For Third Quarter Of 2010

EXCO Resources (XCO) issued an operations update on its development activities in Louisiana and Texas where the company has properties that are prospective for the Haynesville Shale.

During the third quarter of 2010, on an operated basis, EXCO Resources spud 28 wells, and completed 23 wells using an average drilling rig fleet of 18 rigs.  The company is currently running 21 rigs and plans to add one more rig by the end of 2010.

EXCO Resources development plans for 2010 includes 126 operated horizontal wells.  The company averaged 43 days from spud to rig release in the third quarter of 2010.
