Pioneer Natural Resources Company Completes Eagle Ford Shale Well

Pioneer Natural Resources Company (PXD) announced the completion of a well in the Eagle Ford Shale in Live Oak County, Texas.

The Sinor #5 well had an initial production rate of 11.3 million cubic feet of natural gas equivalent per day, composed of 8.3 million cubic feet of natural gas and 500 barrels of liquids.

The well had a true vertical depth (TVD) of 13,000 feet and was completed with a 2,600-foot lateral and a nine stage hydraulic fracturing operation.

Pioneer Natural Resources Company has 310,000 gross acres in the Eagle Ford Shale. The company has spud a second well in the Eagle ford Shale, and is in the midst of a five well program that will continue into 2010.

The Eagle Ford Shale - Murphy Oil

Murphy Oil (MUR) has more than 100,000 acres in the Eagle Ford Shale in South Texas. The company finds the area attractive due to its low population density, availability of water and access to infrastructure. The company has not released that much detail about the acreage it has under lease, but according to a company presentation, it is located in Karnes, La Salle, McMullen and Live Oak counties.

Murphy Oil is still leasing acreage in the Eagle Ford Shale, and is planning on drilling in the fourth quarter of 2009 to assess its acreage. ___________________________________________________________________
