Clayton Williams Energy (CWEI) issued an operational update on its activities in the Eagle Ford Shale in Texas. The company has just completed its second Eagle Ford Shale horizontal well.
Clayton Williams Energy completed the Smalley-Robinson Unit #1, which is located in Burleson County, Texas. This Eagle Ford Shale well was drilled to a vertical depth of approximately 7,000 feet, and then completed with a 5,500 foot lateral and a thirteen stage hydraulic fracturing operation.
The Smalley-Robinson Unit #1 had an initial production rate of 492 barrels of oil per day, and is now producing at a rate of 175 barrels of oil per day. Clayton Williams Energy reported that the cost to drill and complete this Eagle Ford Shale well was $3.3 million.
In February 2010, Clayton Williams Energy disclosed the completion results of the Broesche Unit #1 well, also located in Burleson County, Texas. This Eagle Ford Shale well was drilled to a vertical depth of approximately 7,600 feet, and then completed with a 4,880 foot lateral and a nine stage hydraulic fracturing operation.
The Broesche Unit #1 well had an initial production rate of 234 barrels of oil per day, and is now producing at a rate of 46 barrels of oil per day. Clayton Williams Energy reported that the cost to drill and complete this Eagle Ford Shale well was $3.1 million.
