Petrohawk Energy Continues Development Of Eagle Ford Shale

Petrohawk Energy (HK) released earnings for the fourth quarter of 2009, and updated its operations in the Eagle Ford Shale. The company’s main focus in the Eagle Ford Shale is in the Hawkville Field.

Petrohawk Energy is running four rigs in the Hawkville Field, and is currently obtaining seismic data on its acreage so the company can plan its development program better. When completed Petrohawk Energy will have 450 square miles of 3D seismic data on its Eagle Ford Shale acreage.

Petrohawk Energy said that based on the production history of its wells in the Eagle Ford Shale, the company is seeing an increase in the hyperbolic factor (b) on its wells, in the range of 1.5 or higher.

Petrohawk Energy is also conducting hydraulic fracturing on its well at the Red Hawk prospect in Zavala County, which is in the oil zone of the Eagle Ford Shale. The company is also starting to drill a second well.

Swift Energy Starts Eagle Ford Shale Development - Part Two

Swift Energy (SFY) held a conference call on February 17, 2010 to discuss its fourth quarter of 2009 earnings. The company discussed its operations in the Eagle Ford Shale in Texas.

Swift Energy has acreage in the Eagle Ford Shale across different counties and because of that its wells will have a different mix of dry gas versus liquids as it develops its properties.

“Our Eagle Ford Position over in Webb County, we do believe that its going to be more of a dry gas (area)”

“We get over in to our TSH Sun area we've got acreage that's really right on the reef or slightly behind the reef and we're waiting to see some of the first wells drilled but we anticipate that's going to be much oilier in that area.”

“As we move over to the AWP area…the down dip area, our most southern area which was principally not included in the joint venture. We see that as more of a dry gas and high pressure type environment.”

“In our northern AWP area which was not included in the joint venture, we're actually seeing some oil wells or very, very oily high condensate yield wells on strike to us. We're thinking that's going to be liquids. And we've got a nice acreage position there and north of the reef that could be extremely oily; really oil wells are very likely there as you get further north.”

Crimson Exploration Drills Test Well In Eagle Ford Shale

Crimson Exploration Inc. (CXPO) released an operations update on its acreage in the Eagle Ford Shale in Texas. During the fourth quarter of 2009, Crimson Exploration drilled an Eagle Ford Shale test well at the Pawnee prospect in Bee County.

The Dubose #1 well was drilled to approximately 13,200 feet and completed with production of 600,000 cubic feet per day of natural gas. Crimson Exploration has 2800 gross acres around the DuBose #1 well, and plans on drilling one well in 2010 on its Eagle Ford Shale acreage.
