Eagle Ford Shale - Rosetta Resources

Rosetta Resources (ROSE) has accumulated 28,000 net acres under lease in the Eagle Ford Shale. The company has acreage in Dimmit and LaSalle County. Rosetta Resources believes it has 150 drilling locations in the Eagle Ford Shale on its acreage.

Rosetta Resources has drilled two vertical Eagle Ford Shale wells to test out its acreage. These wells were called the Vela #1 and the Springer Ranch #1. The company plans on drilling horizontal wells at the same location some time in 2009. ___________________________________________________________________

The Eagle Ford Shale - Murphy Oil

Murphy Oil (MUR) has more than 100,000 acres in the Eagle Ford Shale in South Texas. The company finds the area attractive due to its low population density, availability of water and access to infrastructure. The company has not released that much detail about the acreage it has under lease, but according to a company presentation, it is located in Karnes, La Salle, McMullen and Live Oak counties.

Murphy Oil is still leasing acreage in the Eagle Ford Shale, and is planning on drilling in the fourth quarter of 2009 to assess its acreage. ___________________________________________________________________

The Eagle Ford Shale - Pioneer Natural Resources

Pioneer Natural Resources Company (PXD) has accumulated significant in the Eagle Ford Shale in South Texas, with 310,000 acres under net lease. Most of its drilling to date has targeted the Edwards formation which is below the Eagle Ford Shale.

Pioneer Natural Resources just drilled its first horizontal well in the Eagle Ford Shale in South Texas. The well was called the Friedrichs Gas Unit #1, located in Dewitt County. The well had an initial production rate of 3.7 million cubic feet per day of natural gas and 160 barrels per day of condensate. The company reported that it had mechanical problems with the drilling, and only performed 5 out of an 8 stage hydraulic fracturing job.

Pioneer Natural Resources plans another horizontal well in the Eagle Ford Shale later in 2009. ___________________________________________________________________
