Forest Oil (FST) has 127,000 net acres of exposure to the Haynesville Shale. This acreage also contains other known producing zones including the James Lime, Travis Peak and Cotton Valley Sand.
In 2008, Forest Oil drilled 14 vertical wells on its properties to test its potential. In 2009 the company is planning a horizontal program consisting of 2 rigs drilling 10-12 operated wells, and 2-3 non operated wells.
Forest Oil's first horizontal well was the Moseley 14 – 1H, located in Red River Parish, Louisiana
