Whiting Petroleum (WLL) issued an operational update on its activity in the Bakken area in North Dakota, where the company is active in the Sanish and Parshall fields.
The Sanish Field is a major area of development for Whiting Petroleum, and the company plans to drill 86 gross, or 48 net operated wells in 2010. Most of these wells were targeting the Bakken formation. The company is operating nine rigs here in 2010.
Whiting Petroleum is currently building out the infrastructure to develop its acreage in the Bakken area. The company recently built a 17 mile, 8 inch diameter pipe with a capacity of 65,000 barrels of oil per day, to connect to an existing pipeline in the area.
Lewis and Clark Prospect
Whiting Petroleum is currently developing the Lewis and Clark prospect in Golden Valley, Billings and Stark Counties, North Dakota, where the company has 329,339 gross, or 211,128 net acres under lease. The company believes that it has 500 drilling locations here.
